I think I have this. Oh maybe it’s like people can’t put this and love together so your love needs to be so strong it overflows their concepts and makes them make new ones to account for it

More specifically, there's a way of reaching through the empty shell, down to the more essential (and probably vulnerable) bit that's being protected. That essential bit is amazing, always, beautiful. Be in contact with that and whatever you say can't go too far wrong.
