was just thinking again this morning that few people have truly, properly and rigorously updated their mental models for what the internet allows you to do. In my mind I was thinking along the lines of “a street busker can be a millionaire”

I think broadly people have intuitions that lag about 20 years. We now understand things like, you can become a movie star, or a sports star, and if you get on the right team, with the right agent/manager, in front of the right cameras, *then* you can be a millionaire

maybe it’s something more like people’s intuitions freeze in high school or college w/o deliberate effort. i think the zoomers aren’t 20 years behind lol
