I've figured out why I suck at msging/texting: it never ends.
It's an endless activity with no natural stop π¨
You can hang up the phone after a few hrs. You can get up and say goodbye or walk away from an in person convo.
But there's no good way to end a txt convo

i have one friend where we have a shared understanding that we can both drop and pick back up the conversation whenever and that works out well. other friends we do more explicit saying βhelloβ and βgoodbyeβ and that works fine too. gotta pick one tho i think
works great until you try and plan something with that person. "not now man, we're on a deadline!"

Recently had a long convo with my dad about him feeling offended that I would sometimes disappear without a hi/bye, and related stuff. Was tough but we got a fair bit of shared reality about unless things get going really live, I treat messenger more like email.

My best friend and I do this. Iβll send something funny and he wonβt respond until the next time he sees me in person. And I know thatβs what it is.
Though we had to adjust for quarantine. HA!
