i've started skimming over or straight up ignoring GPT-3 samples that show up on the TL and it's not because they aren't good, it's because of something like... i don't care how good they are if they weren't written by a specific person from a specific set of life experiences

there's a decoupling-norm thing where people want utterances to have meaning independent from who said them and there are kinds of utterances that makes more sense for (e.g. math) but mostly it makes a huge difference who is saying e.g. "i love you" or w/e

who is saying what has implications for what the world looks like and how people are and when GPT-3 says a thing those implications have been tossed into a blender and become very unclear. another example of "emotional laundering" maybe
