doing squats in the gym is slowly changing how i use my feet. there’s some way i’m used to holding tension or keeping my weight concentrated on a particular portion of my feet that just becomes obviously unsustainable as i add more weight

Chucks, or anything else with zero-drop, work just fine; no need to spend a ton unless you’re really looking to capitalize on the chance for very small percentage gains in performance

would lifting barefoot be an improvement over normal shoes? i already have too much physical stuff right now so not excited about the idea of buying more lol
Yeah, definitely. The only reason I don’t is because most gyms look down on it as a safety hazard & sanitation concern

The principle here is that you don’t want the elevated heel of a shoe forcing weight out into your knee joint in an unnatural or dangerous way. So if you’re able to go barefoot have any shoes without an elevated heel you’re set
