check this shit out. this book about witches was written 48 years after the invention of the printing press by some guy who was really mad at and apparently sexually obsessed with some chick and then everyone started using it to prosecute witches. absolutely wack backstory

(i only know gilles de rais exists because i watched fate/zero, obviously, and i looked him up today to better understand the plot of fate/grand order, of course, naturally)

The crazy thing is, we keep learning new lore for new shows and books and games etc - but actually history is kinda knowable? Like not every last nook and cranny, but you can kinda get up to speed if you’re serious about it and have fellow nerds to nerd with
