So here’s what I think is the obvious thing to do: The bells are ringing. King’s Landing has surrendered. Dany *stands down*. And then some fool, maybe a glory-seeking dragon-slayer-wannabe Golden Company lieutenant - kills Rhaegal!! Then this makes sense!!!!

The excessive overkill that Dany does is ridiculous. consider instead: by going on a *little* bit of a rampage, Dany + Drogon *accidentally* set off a cache of wildfire. Meaning she does a lot more damage than she intends to do, even in her moment of understandable rage

So then here are the facts afterwards Dany is hurting - she has just lost her child, AND she has done a lot more damage than she intended, which she feels guilt about But Jon has already been persuaded that she’s unfit to rule This scene becomes so much more tragic!!

Maybe the clever move on Cersei’s part is planting the wildfire - ie, she realises she can’t win, but she takes down Dany with her. Actually, why not have Cersei actually escape? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ watch the wildfire from an escaping iron fleet boat maybe

I had some of the exact same thoughts, but I'd add a third thing missing from s8: Any cleverness on Cersei's part.

I think having the Lannister twins escape by boat would’ve been cooler than killing them. The show can end with them having escaped. Let fans imagine and argue whether they have any shot in the future of taking back the throne

Bonus, on the boat, you also get to show Jaime being fucking conflicted about Cersei. He returned to save her, he saves her, but in their escape, he sees that she’s still thirsty for vengeance. You see that he realises he might have to kill her. Let fans argue about that too

Finally, I think Jon should’ve been made the reluctant king. Sending him back to the Night’s Watch feels cheap. Make him king, then have Bran tell him that Dany actually wasn’t mad. Jon: I had no choice but to kill her! Dany had gone mad! Bran:

Aside, I don’t really like what they did with Missandei and Grey Worm. Killing her was cheap, making him rage was... also cheap. I think Grey Worm should’ve died heroically protecting Dany against the Night King

And I think I would’ve maybe had Missandei leave Dany’s side after the King’s Landing incident. I think it hurts more that way, when you lose a friend because of that sort of conflict/misunderstanding

Anyway, RIP Game of Thrones, you could’ve been a contender for legendary status but you had to have you light snuffed out like a Dothraki horse racing the Night King’s army Also RIP always to Margaery Tyrell, the actual deserving Queen of Westeros
