Absent such an intervention, it will turn out that lifespan correlates perfectly (up to epsilon) with simply the surface area to volume ratio of the organism, i.e. how much space there is for gunk to accumulate before brownian diffusion can’t subsidize active transport.

I haven't done thoughtful unit analysis, yet. But that will have a relationship to surface area/flux versus volume. A volume can only contain so much gunk it can't get rid of & can only ship it around so effectively & will eventually degrade "healthy" transport.
