I wonder how long timezones will remain. With artificial light and global comms not much need (and a fair cost), yet timekeeping inertia is great - we are after all somewhat on Babylonian time, and adopting the Gregorian calendar took centuries. Maybe when off-planet majority?

w/o time zones, it's harder to tell when it's a reasonable time to schedule a chat w/ someone. If my 12:00 is Moscow's 12:00… uh… I guess I have to ask what their sleep cycle is? The whole thing gets messy in a different way.

Yeah I found a long article awhile back (not sure where now) that tried to create a system for answering these questions without timezones, and…
…it ended up being isomorphic to timezones.
