I actually never concluded DARE was fake
I had to be told
I was not the sort of kid who was invited along when drugs were happening so I was like 19 when this occurred

extremely dishonest, usually did the opposite of harm reduction

in retrospect I really appreciate my mom's approach especially given her experience with my bio dad and later, the foster kids
she was completely open about the fact that people like the way drugs make them feel but emphasized that it could wind up with you chasing that feeling
