oh, ā€œpatronizing bulldozingā€ is a great description. perhaps the true essence of mansplaining is the way it reduces the listener to an object, to be passively filled with wisdom rather than attended to as an equal and active participant

i was at a dinner party in chicago once where every single other person there talked about 50-100% longer uninterrupted than i was used to and it was super jarring. felt to me like they weren’t actually paying attention to the rest of the room to see if people were getting bored
