I feel pretty secure in saying that most ADHD people are noticing shit constantly, thinking about tons of interesting things. But if I'm "supposed" to pay attention to the science class, then thinking about how light hits different parts of the classroom becomes "bad"

I went to a school inside a church & I remember staring up at stained glass, having a religious experience. Later I was told the teacher called my name & I didn't respond at all. Talking to God was & *is* more valuable to me than learning about the revolutionary war a 4th time

Trying to redirect my attention to what I'm supposed to, the way I was taught to "manage my ADHD," looked like abandoning my rich sensory and inner experience for cold, useless facts I've never needed. I never actually had trouble learning things I need to know.

ADHD people just happen to run on shit we actually care about, and we're not being taught how to care about more things, we're being taught to redirect ourselves away from meaning so we can fit into meaningless institutions.
