my least favorite thing about madoka is the combination of the witches being a metaphor for trauma + no mechanism for witches to turn back into magical girls by overcoming their trauma very pessimistic 😐

Well, in Rebellion Sayaka and Nagisa have control over their witch forms. Admittedly they needed outside help in the form of Madoka, but for some people that is realistic. There are also Magia Record’s Doppels. Though again, outside help is needed, but it’s more hands-off.
