no idea!! i feel like we caused enough hubbub to give them a story even if they didn't have one earlier, but it would be cool if scott's gamble worked

I think part of the gamble was to get ahead of the story
NYT can still publish but much harder to not make it about their own practices at this point

There are nyt-internal considerations too. No idea what nyt newsroom slack looks like right now, but imagine it's not unified about this
