5x5 30lb bench press (apparently the bar isn’t a full 45lb, didn’t find out until halfway through, welp)

I found when I was first starting that the form actually came more naturally once you start adding weight - an empty bar is almost too empty and your ability to flap it around badly goes away when the inertia gets heavier

The bar is by convention always treated as 45lb although it is slightly less -- 20kg. Do you mean you were using a short bar of some kind?
