there's a Seeing Like A State aspect to this. if your tweets are too perfect, people forget you're a person

i like using "apparently" / "i learned" because it's a way to give myself permission to poast about stuff without having to make sure that i've hedged against all possible edge cases and without having to do significant research to be sure that i'm correct twitter.com/search?q=from%

it's not that i'm never willing to be assertive; it's more that like, when all i know about a subject is reading a few PDFs or a book (rather than having actual experience) i don't want to come off as some sort of domain expert and i want to welcome corrections/revisions.
