thinking about this. there's a huge difference in *vibe* between a raw statement "X" and "i think X"; i think (see?) raw statements can get hypnotic in a way that does funny things on the vibe level, and adding the "i think" can restore the sense that there's a person involved twitter.com/visakanv/statu…

I am in the habit of hedging A LOT because I am in the related habit of making space for dissent, which relates in turn to my habit of not asserting myself from time to time 🙅‍♀️

it's not that i'm never willing to be assertive; it's more that like, when all i know about a subject is reading a few PDFs or a book (rather than having actual experience) i don't want to come off as some sort of domain expert and i want to welcome corrections/revisions.
