Average testosterone levels have been dropping by 1 percent a year since the 1980's https://uk.reuters.com/article/health-testosterone-levels-dc-idUKKIM16976320061101…
I've seen this mentioned but also encountered surprisingly little discussion - have you found well-researched accessible writeups? I'd love a link if so!
I'm deeply confused by the worldwide drop in testosterone levels & sperm counts. It's a *huge* effect, too big to be explained by obesity. The most common explanation I see proposed is environmental contaminants. But I don't know if that's true, or which contaminants matter most.
Just assumed it was growing amount of synthetics in the air and water, disrupting hormone regulation. Coincides with obesity spike, in humans and animals.
Not to dispute those, but I've also had a few thoughts about a potential new phase of self-domestication... (Wait - in animals? Hadn't heard that part)
The whole story has always seemed fairly unlikely to me to reflect something that is both real and important. Though I suppose part of my suspicion is that no one in my general corner of the internet seems to be really concerned either.
