finally looking at school trauma and jesus fucking christ man
Conversation
I really want to read a book or something about school-trauma. Any suggestions? I think elementary school was the worst for me but I've mostly forgotten it, and I think that's why the cycle continues. I want to remember!

this is a little indirect but you can start with the seven-lesson schoolteacher by john taylor gatto:

(he also has books but i haven’t read them)
and then keith johnstone has a lot to say about how school cripples creativity in his book impro:

ironically i'm now gonna quote someone else: keith johnstone said a similar thing in impro about artists censoring their creativity out of worry about how it reflects on them, rather than e.g. seeing art as something that pours out of but doesn't belong to the artist
