going on my first ever meditation retreat later next week
(with the nice monks-in-residence at OAK)
any tips or advice? (including very mundane)

oh nice! these things are so personal but based on my general sense of you... maybe... remember that you’re allowed to want to feel good and happy?
it can be easy to turn meditation into a tool to beat yourself up with and i have a guess that that’s something you might be inclined towards

I think if I metabolize that, it's like
not so much "beat up" as the risk, because I'm doing alright (ish?) at steering towards what feels balanced and unblocked
but even that is still quite a bit of a *goal* or *progress* orientation
