So what is tantra, or what is the tantric distinction? One way of starting that discussion might be to say that tantra assumes emptiness or direct experience of non-duality as a starting point. Without sunyata, no tantra.

christ people make this complicated. tantra is simply enlightened people who have or might have kids, getting through their days. you live, knowing you will die. you deal with work, kids, family, money, sex, duty, all from an enlightened perspective. life goes on until it don't

the trick is getting enlightened people to have kids. that's the hard part of tantra. two enlightened beings fucking is, sure, all kinds of magic wonderland as you might expect. but these are practices from before the age of birth control. it's that simple. it's so very clear.

I like you Vinay, but yours sounds something like a neo-stoicism. Abhinavagupta would laugh at the idea that tantra was about keeping it cool in the worldly life. That would be a form of stoicism.

And he would further laugh at the idea that his works were too complicated. The beauty of his work is a part of tantra.

I think I get what you are saying, and I agree, to some extent. But, the Vijnanabharaiva says nothing about children. Tantra is a skillful means to enlightenment in that work. It is not a manual for worldly life.

So even if you don't see the kid thing spelled out in tantra, *sex=babies* in the cultures this came from, and if you weren't a monk, you were a parent, end of story. The tantra is literally *you don't renounce your role* even if you inwardly renounce. You just get on with life.

Yes. Well said. Even the scholars, bless their text based hearts, must acknowledge this. Even Wendy Doniger.

And then on top of that core calculus all kinds of other stuff accumulates - monastics who borrow bits of it, people who make it a practice. But the real tantea? You burn your parents, and you get your children married. You do your fucking job. That's the real praxis of tantra.

yer trad Hindus had no fear of God, and becoming Awake was just an advanced form of sanity. lots of social support for it. waking up in a nuclear demonic theocracy is a whole other thing. they never had to do that shit in the old days. it's so much harder now than it was 1500AD

I'm still plodding along with your method Vinay. The fireworks have died down for now, and my marriage has survived. It may yet have ruined my life though 😂. I find myself in the a nuclear theocracy, but I am a demon.

http://files.howtolivewiki.com/.meditation_2015 … has a doc in there, eternalisious, which was a shot at a practice manual written > 10 years ago. Nothing in there is more dangerous than it seems. The hard part in this culture is the nuclear kleshas: fear of God being the main thing that fucks people

Fuck. If I could teach it without killing people I would. Unfortunately the kit I've got is archaic and as dangerous as all hell. It's basically useless, more or less ruined my life Yogiraj Siddhanarh initiated me, but I got my tantra from my prior guru (and her from Haidakhan)

the old Hindu ways has no mechanism for dealing with fear of God. why would anybody dream of fearing god? digging that stuff out of people's skulls is so destructive of their social identities it's just incompatible with the old Hindu methods it's most of why tantra failed here
