yeah sex is good but have you ever tried helping a friend cry about how he feels responsible for his dad's death and - this is the crazy shit - how he *needs* to feel responsible for his dad's death, because otherwise the world doesn't make any sense and god is a piece of shit

this book is the most chad book on therapy i've ever read, there's literally a part where they say "coherence therapy is so effective you might run out of clients; in that casewe suggest having more courage and integrity" check it out: https://www.amazon.com/Coherence-Therapy-Practice-Training-Spiral-bound/dp/B00RWTOTC2 …

Could you expan on that? Curious about this articulation and your grasping.

it's sort of impossible to convincingly explain via text, there's no real substitute for just directly experiencing how much your own behavior makes sense. but e.g. you don't just avoid going to the gym because you're "lazy," there is an actual coherent emotional logic somewhere

Starting with that as the hypothesis / framework is SO exciting for the world... Everything we do is rooted in a positive logic, distorted bc we need to survive in imperfect environments. And emotions have their own logic language.
-
So, listening for the logic in how we're making sense of simple, true perceptions, a lot becomes possible. Seeing can become unimaginably simpler. And service becomes a more straightforward experiment. The need for things to be how we need them to be stops getting in the way.

Do they get to the bottom of the emotional reality of the need to get to the bottom of emotional reality even when it drives them nuts?
