if the measure is accurate and the condition is stable and untreatable (as implied in the article) then the number of "callous and unemotional" psychopaths in the population of a country like the U.S. is something like 3 million.

played around a bit last year with the idea that most of the point of the rule of law etc. is as a way to limit the damage that can be done by psychopaths

is it though? they already basically ignore deterrence and if they're not literally physically restrained will just do what they feel like. also, like, there is probably a rather interesting Venn diagram of cops and psychopaths.
