i'm annoyed at myself that i almost didn't post this because it didn't seem meta-contrarian enough or something to just straightforwardly take an object-level position on a hot-button topic

i guess i feel like the market for object-level positions on hot-button topics is pretty oversaturated already and as long as i'm saying things i might as well say things that aren't already being said, buuut also i fuckin' love showing off welp

Noah certainly won't admit this, and few others on the center or left will, but realistically, Trump's the one who shifted the status quo on China with his statements, tariffs, and later sanctions. All off that was unprecedented post-1989.

i am extremely ignorant of the relevant history and context here unfortunately. can you expand on this a bit? i assume 1989 is a reference to tiananmen square?
