Forgiveness is a weird concept when you think about it. Actions have consequences; you can’t magically erase them. How can forgiveness mean something other than pretending a falsehood is true?

Forgive but don’t necessarily forget. I think these concepts gets intertwined. You don’t have to forget. Let me ask, do you forgive yourself? Do you forgive your child? Your partner? Your friends? Now, strangers...? Is there no chance for redemption. Would you not want this?

Your last question seems to be asking “how can you forget?” You can’t. Or, rather — That’s repression. BUT, you can _move_. Rather than be paralysed in the present by the past. The way out is through.
