In a conversation of n people, fairness dictates you're entitled to talk up to 1/n of the time. If you (like me) frequently take up more space than that, honestly truly, do you believe, deep down, you actually deserve a bigger share because of the quality of what you're saying?
(i also try to pay attention to the effect that this is having and modulate if i feel like i’ve gone too far; used to be a lot worse at this, gradually improving, but meanwhile there are times i’m in a comversation and people *want* me to take up more than 1/n)
