i'm struggling to express my horror here without being mean to the OP i don't know who needs to hear this but: please consider the possibility that relating to yourself primarily as a tool for "work" is inevitably going to cause burnout no matter how good you get at self-care

Gonna talk about semantics because it's important here. What does "work" mean? Self-care involves work too. One of the essential aspects of (self)-work is to develop a positive relationship with the notion of work generally.

I hope it's clear that when I say "work" I don't mean "employment"

Also occurs to me that to many, "work" refers to "stuff I am supposed to do but don't actually want to do", rather than "stuff I want to do because I care about it". At our best, all work dissolves into play.

yeah, i'm not aware of good terminology from distinguishing the coercive (esp. self-coercive) form of work and the actually good kind. feels like i need one of those greek words. like chronos vs. kairos
