at the very least it's clear that he has *read* the masters which almost nobody i know has done. it's very unfortunate that the masters write in languages like german, french, and latin which i am not educated-at-cambridge-in-the-late-19th-century enough to know
also "invited confusion in weaker minds" is just amazing, nobody in contemporary mathematics writes like this (they probably shouldn't, but still)
