Possible overprojection from my own wounds, but: I’ve learned the most when I learn some new way of seeing the world, like a view-quake book. So I often doubt the very sense-making apparatuses that I use. Maybe they will get shaken up, too? So marginally paralyzed.

right. the paralysis comes from a fear of not knowing what the right thing to do is. this is the sort of thing you're especially likely to develop if you were smart enough to know what the right thing to do was for a long time, so you never had to deal with not knowing growing up
