everything that a mainstream ideology lies about / refuses to see / keeps in its shadow is a weapon that it hands to any fringe ideology that is willing to step up and claim it, and the internet makes this process faster and more visible than perhaps it has ever been

I agree, though do you think it’s possible that some ideologies like science and pragmatism are better prepared to integrate their shadows more regularly (since it can’t be avoided).
science is absolutely awful at integrating its shadow; not sure what exactly "pragmatism" means here

By pragmatism I just mean "do what works best until something else works better or a better goal comes along, then switch." I'm curious what you mean about science... my guess is that it's bad at integrating the shadow of things that science can't explain?

Most science relies on the assumption that the world is deterministic, which has been disproven by the very same science. There’s also the replication crisis, hacking p-values, or entirely made up studies published in the most prestigious journals.
