it's my birthday and i'm still coughing. poop. still a lot of post-nasal drip but the actual coughing itself is mostly mediated by emotional stress; right now i'm more or less only coughing when i think about emotionally charged topics, which also happened to me last year

stress is tensing my throat so i'm mainly trying to deal with this by relaxing my throat, which is kinda working although feels really strangely unpleasant. if i do it successfully it get a lot easier for me to spit up phlegm which seems like a good sign

I would guess there's a direct link there: that you're tensing your throat precisely to avoid that unpleasantness. What happens if you investigate/welcome the unpleasantness?
