is there a name for the ethical position that it's unethical to eat plants so people should just starve to death? closest i've gotten is the phrase "plants rights"

aha! i'd heard this word before but somehow hadn't connected it to excluding plants, thanks! also hadn't occurred to me that you could think eating plants is unethical and still eat fruit

Though the Jain position is not limited to plants. According to Jain scriptures existence is violence and peak Jain is suicide which a lot of Jain monks commit (look up Santhara).
