We're all deeply influenced by memetic (& many other) forces beyond our understanding. Here we are, using the same set of 37 alphanumeric (+ space) characters! The same 44 phonemes. Etc. Is there a difference in grotesquerie?

(BTW, I love your observation! Related: I s'times think of Reddit as a kind of efficient market for all possible obvious responses to something. Just scroll down & all the obvious comments will be made somewhere. It's a machine for generating the convex hull of obvious responses.

I’m not averse to throwing a few dumb memes around myself. Probably a bit mean of me, but I use them to laugh at my irritation at others’ imperviousness to their own invisible mimetic display.
