it's hard to remember what that experience was like but i think in retrospect most of what i valued about objectivism was that it validated my pursuit of my own desires, as opposed to e.g. doing what my parents wanted

I am slightly embarrassed to say that I was very into Ayn Rand’s philosophy when I was 18. The biggest thing I remember though is not being able to finish reading Fountainhead because it was so boring lol. It took me 4 more years to understand the shortcomings of her positions

honestly i don't remember what the process of snapping out of it was like at all, it just kinda happened one day, don't think it was due to better philosophical analysis
