it's hard to remember what that experience was like but i think in retrospect most of what i valued about objectivism was that it validated my pursuit of my own desires, as opposed to e.g. doing what my parents wanted

after several months i snapped out of it, thought "what the fuck just happened to me?" and resolved to not think about philosophy again until i acquired more life experience, which happened around the end of college when i found HPMoR and LW
