The new most important distinctions for me about people I meet: 1) Do they know they're part of the paperclip maximiser? (1% of pop.) 2) Are they trying to change the paperclip maximiser, and if so, is their strategy any good? (1% of the 1%)

So far I've got good marketing but no proof that it's possible to reliably nudge people from individualism to relationality. It could be a fundamentally mysterious problem with no context-independent solution. Glad to have your confidence though!
I have opinions about this! Circling / authentic relating was a key for me, as was basically trauma work - got a lot easier to be relational when I got emotionally unblocked enough that I could actually feel other people. Suspect this is a big barrier for many others.

I wonder how far it can stretch. Eg does effective circling require face to face transmission down a lineage of mastery?

It does sorta seem that way to me, but fortunately that transmission can happen during circling itself!
