anyone thinking seriously about how to redesign dating? i think it's pretty clear that 1) modern dating is super broken and 2) finding people healthy long-term romantic relationships is one of the best things we could do for them so let's fix it already

random topic to get started: i don't see anywhere in modern dating that you get strong positive signals of trustworthiness. many people are substituting trustworthiness = you have the same ideology as me, and this has nothing to do with trustworthiness

Amy @amymastrineI've said it before: this is why I'm having so much trouble dating I wasted 6 months dating a sociopath last year. In the past, his reputation among the community would have filtered him for me#onlinedating https://twitter.com/juliemastrine/status/1149777620143206400 …Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 1 likeShow this thread -

I predict that blockchain-based reputation systems will eventually enable all kinds of stuff, including better dating systems. Could be another 10 years before it is functional and wide-spread enough.

i think the dating app space is crazy underexplored given only normal boring technology! simple example: replace profile pics with short videos / gifs; much more data to get a real read on personality from. another random idea: only other people can write stuff on your profile.

One thing any system with persistent reputation stuff is going to need is a redemption system. People fuck up all the time, and permanent records would disincentivize Learning Mode. Maybe just have people flag themselves as being in L-Mode who get paired with "teacher" types.

i am into the idea of a combination dating-and-learn-to-get-better-at-dating app! sounds like fun to design
