Trauma begets ideologies to make sense of it, and those ideologies form communities in which everyone is actually actively reinforcing each other's trauma, I think in several ways. but also it seems like people are actually coming to realize that the thing they're doing is making them miserable and there might be a genuine opportunity in all that misery for meaning-makers to present genuinely compelling new visions of how to live
