eventually "yes and" is going to become a euphemism for "but"...and we're going to have to invent a whole new turn of phrase. riding the euphemism treadmill, up & up & up maybe it's better to embody the spirit of "yes and" without actually saying the words

oof this is a sad, sad truth. language games are moving targets, tread carefully
ANNNND...." which is how you know you're hearing a "but"
there's a way of using words where you actually mean them and there's a way of using words where you're going-through-the-motions and the more people are doing the latter the faster the words die and need to be replaced
