i also have a lot of feelings about this topic and haven't gotten around to articulating them in one place, but they come out in periodic bursts in response to other tweets and at some point there'll be enough for a dedicated twitter thread
one thought is that i think this topic is really hard to decouple from everything else i think is messed up about society at large. like, we can't just burn down the schools because parents need them for daycare, and parents need them for daycare because capitalism, etc.
