@Aella_Girl asked me awhile ago whether people have trouble processing positive emotions, not just negative ones, and I think the answer is 100% yes. For parts of the last several weeks I've been trying to distract / dissociate from _positive_ emotions in my body.

Trying to feel them is actually overwhelming; they're so intense that I'm using all the avoidance tricks I built up to avoid negative emotions, but on positive emotions. It's wild to see myself do this.

This came up in Jhana Jenny's meditation journal. "You can experience joy only to the extent that you feel worthy of the experience" hits something very tender in me: https://jhanajenny.com/shargrol-on-woundedness/ …pic.twitter.com/IQDiXIi2nK

This is interesting. Have you been trying to avoid the good-feelings-overwhelm for a reason – e.g. to get stuff done, to restrain yourself from bragging, because it makes you feel guilty… – or just as a kind of unconscious habit?

It is actually painful. I had an experience last year where agony and ecstasy stopped feeling like different things, and it feels like that.
