if u want to get a feel for how religious people understand the idea of "original sin" or what they mean by "we are all fallen", consider how secular ppl talk about implicit biases: something bad that exists inside all of us, built-in from the beginning, difficult to master

the Christian understanding of angels/spirits/demons seems roughly analogous to the secular concept of memes: meta-physical yet Real, capable of "possessing" people, always traveling through the ether in a "dimension" we can't see
