@slatestarcodex slowly arguing himself out of being a rationalist in real time, I'm rooting for him:https://slatestarcodex.com/2019/06/06/asymmetric-weapons-gone-bad/ …

Rationality works best as a tool, not as an identity or ideology. It's a good way to check your human stuff to make sure you're not going bonkers, generate ideas, communicate ideas, form common ground, etc.

Sure. My current stance is pretty close to
@Meaningness's, as described e.g. here:https://meaningness.com/rationalist-eternalism …1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

do you have a biographical post recounting your transition?

No, unfortunately, long story and haven't gotten around to it. Closest thing is reading my blog in chronological order:https://thicketforte.com/

could you at least supply some dates at which i'd notice shifts?

Biggest shifts were January 2018, ~October 2018 (when I started reading Meaningness), and January 2019, although only the first one will be really noticeable in the posts, I think.

I always felt that the Chapman posts which most directly attacked "LWism" (to the extent that's a thing) consisted only of points that had also appeared in the comments section and in posts on LW itself; didn't expect new converts. Maybe it's the effect of seeing it all together?

It's not exactly that Meaningness told me anything I didn't know. I'd had some experiences and they'd shifted things in me, and Meaningness gave me language and concepts for organizing them. I didn't get anything when I tried reading it before having those experiences.
