Ooh, hmm. There's a version of this that doesn't feel like love to me at all. Like... trying to act in my best interests, but without acknowledging my subjectivity, or something? Treating my values like a black box function to be learned and then abstracted, or something.

There's a thing like "I will form a model of your values and then try to act according to them" which feels cold and mechanical to me, not like love. Not sure how to explain it if that's not pinging a relevant experience in you. Like... "you like roses, right? here's 1000 roses"
