I have gotten a lot less surprised that romantic relationships end, over the last 2 years. It feels like the default outcome a lot more than it used to. Something like, I now expect most relationships to accrue debt over time that people don't know how to pay off.

Interesting — any thoughts as to how to pay off these debts?

With @alexjuiceman: - work on your emotional baggage (together and solo) - prioritize emotional composting (you will know it is done when you both want to do something deeply connected without analyzing) - practice noticing when something is wrong, & having the courage to say it

Can you say more about emotional composting, and what doing something deeply connected looks like?

      Ok I got nerdsniped by this q - here's the answer in a blog post:https://autotranslucence.wordpress.com/2019/05/07/emotional-waste-collection-the-care-and-feeding-of-relationship-intimacy/ …

Also, writing about emotional skills I use on a daily basis reminds me how profoundly complicated they all are. Every few sentences I wanted to back up and say: 'well, actually if you have this emotional pattern you should take the opposite advice; also here's a book to read.'

Yeahhhh. I keep trying to explain the stack I'm using and there's really just a lot of detail. Like, telling people to have more feelings doesn't work unless I also talk about unblending, subject-object shifts, working with trauma...

If you had to list the top 5 books/articles people should read to understand your relationship stack, what would you pick?
