I think I meant something closer to "fear of emptiness": fear of risk, uncertainty, ambiguity, discomfort, breaking away from a script or identity. In some sense this is all grounded in fear of death.

huh, I'd say fear of the unknown. complexity. "how do I even start" or "what does that even look like". fear of death might be beneath this I guess.
