I've been probing a little into the actual foundations of my ethics the last week and I seriously can't rule out that the answer is "Saturday morning cartoons."

I'd be more surprised if that wasn't the case for most people, honestly. We learn ethics by imitation before anything else, and guess where we see most of our examples for ethical behavior...
I've been talking to a lot of ex-Christians lately and for them their first exposure to ethical guidance was more through Sunday school, parents, etc. It's been interesting to contrast that with my own (atheist) childhood; my parents didn't try to morally educate me, really.
