I predict we will soon see the rise of emergent self-governing collectives organized around shared problems or purpose. To participate in these collectives will require a high degree of sovereignty.

This is not to say that purpose driven collectives have no role. They're spectacularly good as an alternative to small-and-medium-sized enterprises, great ways to make a sustainable living in humane ways. But at this point we have no evidence they are capable of doing heavy lift.

1) I think this does tend to be true, although you could argue that catholic church is a purpose driven collective. But certainly you need a legitimate structural/paradigmatic difference and not just wishful thinking if you want to eclipse historical examples.

2) Another possibility is having a web that ties together small/medium enterprises in a way that protects their sovereignty. There are huge benefits to agnostic tools which are broadly useful to many different sectors. Sane power structures perverse incentives creates problems.
