Ex: guy walks up to a girl and his words are "hi, how are you doing" but his body language is tense, shaky, cringing or alternately posturing, imposing, invasive. Neither of those fit his words. Incongruence -> gut reaction of "this guy's hiding something from me."

A guy like this can be quite predictable - namely, you can predict he'll keep being "creepy." And on the other hand a guy might say confident words and also pair them with confident body language. That's congruence.

Congruence can be not-creepy even though it can also be unpredictable. Sometimes unpredictable is exciting! E.g. "I have no idea what this guy is going to say next, but I bet I'm gonna love it!" Because congruence engenders trust.

More interesting is a guy with tense, shaky, cringing body language who also congruently says "Jesus, I'm so nervous talking to you right now I can barely think straight." That can be cute!

Trust is more fundamental than predictability as such, IMO: what is it that I trust this person to do or not do? E.g. maintain social decorum, not touch me without consent, etc. You can trust and signal trust while still having lots of other kinds of unpredictability around.

And indeed people actively cultivate the cool kind of unpredictability. If you can predict literally everything I'm going to say why bother even talking to me?
