    The realistic answer is that everyone will agree with the position I am taking right after the first serious global pandemic with > 100,000 deaths. Suddenly it won't be too inconvenient to do all this stuff. Magic!

    Seems like a good time to mention a preprint I wrote about the dynamics of how worst-case infectious diseases are slowed and stopped by public heath and population reaction as the disease spreads. There's even a toy model on to play with!

    This seems pretty neat, but perhaps would be mangled by handwriting and look like square roots.

    Richard Feynman found trigonometry notation to be ambiguous and confusing. "If I had sin f, it looked like s×i×n×f" So he decided to create his own notation. See below. 🧐 What do you think?

    Perhaps, but coordination is much easier under authoritarianism—that's probably why China has become a powerhouse so rapidly. But it comes associated with many costs, just as with any simple function optimiser.

    I doubt we in US would be as fast to restrict travel in the face of such a still-small pandemic. If so, China is to be praised for their better abilities to coordinate in the face of such threats.

    Just saw 's awesome video on the Flow state! 's work got me onto this topic years ago and, honestly, learning to harness Flow has undoubtedly been one of the most valuable things I've done in the past decade.

    Herbert’s Dune and ’s HPMOR are two books that do a superb job of integrating cognitive processes into the storyline. We’re privy to the scheming, compromises, and game theory going on within characters’ minds. What are other stories that do this well?

    Just finished Dune by Frank Herbert, definitely one of my all-time favourite sci-fi novels!
