        Investors didn't lose money, but investors are not the only people on earth. Shkreli drastically increased prices for drugs where people have very limited other drug options. Thus those patients lost a lot of money cos they had to use their savings just to afford the drugs

        Well, we are all humans and extremely unethical asshole-behaviour, even if not against the law per se can easily influence the sentence on those things where he broke the law

        But that's the point. It's not supposed to influence the sentence. The whole theory behind law is a "fair and just" trial.

        I disagree. When on trial, your behaviour apart from the actual offense also plays a role. It can exacerbate or lighten the sentence and that's okay. If you stole a pack of crackers but never did any wrong before, you're judged differently than a notorious gang member doing this
